Urvashi Rautela stands by her statement – further fuelling the controversy.
Urvashi Rautela Faces Heat Over Recent Controversial Remarks. Bollywood diva Urvashi Rautela has landed in hot water after claiming that a temple in Uttarakhand is named after her – a statement that has drawn heavy criticism from people from all walks of life.
In a recent interview with presenter Siddharth Kannan, Urvashi Rautela spoke about what she calls the “Urvashi temple” near Badrinath Dham, which has sparked a massive backlash and calls for government intervention.
During the interview, Urvashi Rautela said, “There is a temple in Uttarakhand named after me, if someone goes to Badrinath, there is an ‘Urvashi temple’ right next to it.”
When asked if devotees go there to worship, she casually said, “Now that there is a temple, that is what people do there.”
She further said that students of Delhi University not only offer prayers at the place but also garland its images, affectionately calling it “damdammai.”
Urvashi Rautela insisted that she was completely serious, and urged doubters to “read the news” for proof of her claims.
However, religious authorities have strongly rejected the statements. Bhuvan Chandra Onyal, a former religious officer of Badrinath Dham, dismissed the actress’ remarks as “misleading,” clarifying that the temple in question is a venerated place dedicated to the Hindu mythological goddess Urvashi – not Urvashi Rautela.
“This is one of the 108 Shakti Peethas and not its temple. Such baseless statements are unacceptable, and the government should take necessary action,” he said.

Brahma Kapil Tirtha Purohit Society president Amit Sathi also criticised Urvashi Rautela’s comments, saying the temple has immense religious significance and has nothing to do with any individual.
He added that the remarks insulted the sentiments of devotees.
Villagers in Bamni and Pandokeshwar, where the temple is located, have also expressed their anger.

Despite the mounting backlash, Urvashi Rautela stands by her statement – further fuelling the controversy.
