“I know diabetes can’t stop me,” Nick Jonas said.
Nick Jonas Opens Up About his Silent Health Battle. Singer-songwriter Nick Jonas has just taken to social media with a personal health confession that is causing hearts to flutter across social media.
The news was shared on Instagram and comes as part of a sponsorship with glucose monitoring giant Dexcom, which is known for helping diabetics keep their blood sugar levels under control.
The post not only featured a series of images, animated and one of which featured Nick wearing a glucose monitor on his arm, but the rest of the images showed him and his brothers making music on stage, or in a recording studio.
However, that’s not all as one image showed a sterile room where someone was sitting on a doctor’s medical bed.
The caption at the other end of the post offered more insight into the singer’s journey and read, “After being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 13, it felt like someone was closing the door on my dreams.”
But “now, stepping back on the Broadway stage, I wish I could go back and tell my younger self that everything turned out better than I could have ever imagined.”

Because “I know diabetes can’t stop me,” he added.
According to Nick, “Having access to my glucose levels on my phone or Apple Watch*, along with the ability to share that information directly with my family and team, has changed the way I treat my diabetes.”
Before he finished, he also said that his monitoring device “has empowered me with the knowledge I need to manage my diabetes and fulfill my 13-year-old self in ways I never dreamed possible.”
